Amid Uncertainty: How a Pause in Federal Funds Could Threaten Vital Services

At The HUB Central Access Point for Young Adults, we pride ourselves on being a lifeline for young adults navigating some of life’s most difficult challenges. Whether they are experiencing homelessness, aging out of foster care, involved in the juvenile justice system, or balancing the demands of parenting, we provide critical resources and support to help them thrive. However, the recent news of a potential pause on federal grant funding threatens our ability to continue this work, creating significant barriers for the young adults who rely on us.

This pause would not only impact The HUB but directly impact the community supports and resources we are able to connect our young adults with, jeopardizing essential services that are a cornerstone of stability for so many. The potential loss for The HUB Central Access Point for Young Adult amounts to $87,131.38—14% of The HUB’s budget. The consequences of this gap in funding are substantial. In 2024 alone, we served 1,086 young adults, and 20% of those individuals would not have received assistance without federal grant funding. Without these crucial dollars, those numbers will shrink, and the young adults who need us the most may be left without a support system.

Nonprofits like The HUB operate at the intersection of public and private support, leveraging federal dollars to maximize impact and engage communities effectively. When these funds are delayed or withheld, it disrupts vital projects, creates uncertainty, and places an undue strain on organizations that work tirelessly to fill gaps in essential services. These interruptions do not just affect our operations; they affect real people—young adults who are working to build stable, independent lives against overwhelming odds.

Now, more than ever, we need your support. Whether it’s through donations, advocacy, or spreading awareness, your involvement makes a direct impact on the lives of young people in our community. Together, we can ensure that The HUB remains a pillar of hope and opportunity for those who need it most. We will continue this work, but we cannot do it alone.

Stand with us. Support The HUB and the young adults who depend on it. Because every young person deserves a future full of possibility.
